QHSE and site assurance for wind farm work

Wind farm HSE and quality assurance — site and task risk assessments, permit to work and LOTO isolation, work at height controls, toolbox talks, quality records and technical reporting.

  • Site and task risk assessments
  • Permit to work and lockout/tagout (LOTO) isolation controls
  • Work at height controls
  • Toolbox talks and task-specific competence checks

Safety comes first on every EVenergy assignment, across the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. Our wind farm HSE and quality work covers the controls that let inspections, installation and maintenance run safely: risk assessments, permits, isolation and work at height controls, and the records that show they were applied. We work to the QHSE requirements — quality, health, safety and environment — agreed for each site.

Wind farm HSE: permit to work and LOTO isolation

Work on a turbine starts with a permit to work and, where equipment must be isolated, lockout/tagout (LOTO). Site and task risk assessments are completed before the permit is issued, and isolation controls stay in place until the work is closed.

Work at height and task-specific competence

Much of the work on a turbine happens at height. We apply work at height controls, hold toolbox talks and check that each person has the task-specific competence for the work being performed. Emergency preparedness and incident readiness are planned for each site.

Quality records that stand up at handover

Quality records and traceable reporting link each finding to the component, the method used and the recommended action. The same records support wind turbine installation and commissioning at handover and gearbox endoscopy, inspections and NDT on operating turbines.

Define the work, execute safely, close the loop

  • Define the work — agree the equipment, site access, applicable procedures, acceptance criteria and reporting format before mobilization.
  • Execute safely — site risk assessments, permits, isolation controls and task-specific competence for the work being performed.
  • Close the loop — record findings with photographs and recommendations, then track corrective actions through handover.

How the work is delivered

  1. Define the work

Agree the equipment, site access, applicable procedures, acceptance criteria and reporting format before mobilization.

  2. Execute safely

Use site risk assessments, permits, isolation controls and task-specific competence for the work being performed.

  3. Close the loop

Record findings with photographs and recommendations, then track corrective actions through handover.

Frequently asked questions

What is LOTO in wind turbine maintenance?

Lockout/tagout: equipment is isolated from its energy sources, then locked and tagged before work starts, so it cannot be re-energized while people are working on it. On EVenergy assignments, LOTO is applied together with the permit to work and stays in place until the task is complete and closed.

What does a permit to work cover on a wind farm?

A permit to work authorizes a specific task on specific equipment. It is issued after the site and task risk assessments, sets the isolation controls, including LOTO where needed, and confirms that the people doing the work have task-specific competence. The permit is closed only when the work is finished and the equipment is safe.

What QHSE records should a service contractor provide?

Risk assessments, permits, toolbox talk records, quality records, traceable inspection and test records, and technical reports that link each finding to the component, the method used and the recommended action. Corrective actions are tracked through handover, so the owner can see what was found, what was done and what remains open.

How do you prepare for incidents on site?

Incident readiness and emergency preparedness are planned for each site before mobilization, alongside the risk assessments and permits. Toolbox talks brief the team on the task, its hazards and the emergency arrangements. The controls follow the QHSE requirements agreed with the client for that site.
