A wind resource assessment tells a developer whether a site is worth building on, and which turbines and layout suit it. EVenergy carries out wind resource assessment and feasibility work before procurement and construction, for projects in Jordan and across the Middle East, North Africa and Central Asia. We link the site’s wind conditions to a practical turbine layout, the expected energy production and the physical constraints of building and operating the plant.

Met mast and LiDAR campaigns for wind resource assessment

Every assessment starts with site screening and a measurement campaign plan. We define the campaign by site: a met mast, a LiDAR campaign, or both, depending on the terrain, the project stage and the data the yield analysis needs.

  • Screen candidate sites and plan the measurement campaign.
  • Measure with a met mast, LiDAR or both, integrated into one data set.
  • Review the measured data before it is used for resource and yield analysis.

Met mast lifecycle: supply, installation, calibration and maintenance

We support the whole met mast lifecycle, not only the analysis: mast supply and installation support, commissioning, routine maintenance and sensor calibration. Keeping the sensors calibrated and the mast maintained is what keeps the campaign producing data that can be used for the wind resource assessment.

Energy yield, turbine layouts and the feasibility report

From the measured wind resource we prepare conceptual turbine positions, review turbine options and estimate energy yield, including hourly production profiles. The feasibility work also covers access and logistics and a preliminary environmental and ecological screening, and ends in a comprehensive report for the next project gate.

When a site moves forward, owner’s engineering and PMC support carries these requirements into construction, and wind turbine transport and heavy lifting plans how the components reach the site.

Case: three candidate sites for a green ammonia project in Jordan

For Philadelphia Solar’s green ammonia project, EVenergy assessed three proposed wind plant sites in Jordan. The study covered the wind resource, conceptual layouts and logistics, turbine proposals, energy yield with hourly profiles, and a preliminary environmental and ecological assessment, delivered in a final comprehensive report.

How the work is delivered

  1. Define the work

Agree the equipment, site access, applicable procedures, acceptance criteria and reporting format before mobilization.

  2. Execute safely

Use site risk assessments, permits, isolation controls and task-specific competence for the work being performed.

  3. Close the loop

Record findings with photographs and recommendations, then track corrective actions through handover.

Typical outputs

  • Assumptions register
  • Site comparison
  • Layout and yield outputs, including hourly production profiles
  • Key constraints
  • A comprehensive report for the next project gate

Frequently asked questions

What is included in a wind farm feasibility study?

Our feasibility work covers site screening, the measurement campaign, wind resource assessment, conceptual turbine positions, turbine option review and energy yield with hourly production profiles. It also reviews access, logistics and preliminary environmental and ecological constraints. You receive an assumptions register, a site comparison, the key constraints and a comprehensive report for the next project gate.

Should the campaign use a met mast, LiDAR or both?

It depends on the site, the terrain and how the data will be used. We define the measurement campaign for each site: a met mast, a LiDAR campaign, or both combined into one data set. The choice is agreed with the developer at the planning stage, before any equipment is mobilized to site.

Why does met mast sensor calibration matter?

A wind resource assessment is only as reliable as the data behind it. Calibrated sensors and routine mast maintenance keep the campaign producing data that can be used for resource and yield analysis. That is why EVenergy supports the whole met mast lifecycle, from supply and installation to commissioning, maintenance and calibration.

Can you compare several candidate sites?

Yes. For Philadelphia Solar’s green ammonia project in Jordan, EVenergy assessed three proposed wind plant sites side by side. The work covered resource assessment, conceptual layouts and logistics, turbine proposals, energy yield and hourly profiles, and a preliminary environmental and ecological assessment, with a site comparison in the final report.
